The summer issue of Fifth Estate is here, with tons of great content including John Zerzan on Occupy, new updates in the Marie Mason case, an interview with the fabulous writer Cara Hoffman, a review of David Graeber’s latest, and two of my articles.
The first one, Survival of the Fittest? Disabilities & tribal people, is a challenge to popular notions of what life was like for people with disabilities before industrial medicine, using examples from fossil records and present-day societies– I’ve already gotten tons of positive feedback on it, which is inspiring me to write more about issues concerning illness and disability in Canada and around the world.
The Toronto issue launch party is happening at The 460, at College and Spadina, this Thursday June 21st. There’s going to be drinks, free food and live music, so make sure you come out (ps: it’s an early event, so show up around 5pm).
